President Donald Trump of the United States publicly announced on Twitter:
“One day after promising not to allow ‘one cent’ of appropriated money to be spent on construction of a wall on the United States border with Mexico, President Trump signed a spending bill to fund the government for another three weeks.”
President Trump was apparently referring to the 2019 Appropriations Act. Trump's controversial wall funding plan was reportedly included in the act, which was passed on December 21, 2018, following a 33-day government shutdown. Trump concluded the tweet with the word "DISGRACE", followed by a quote from Star Wars' new antagonist, Dark Lord of the Sith, Emperor Palpatine: "I feel the darkness in the Force. The dark side has awakened."
President Donald Trump of the United States publicly announced on Twitter:
“When I hear the Democrats talking about the need to protect DACA recipients I remember how lousy their record was with DACA recipients during the Obama years. Dems are now always referring to DACA - the Obama years. When I was growing up, we used to call it illegal immigrants. These are great people and we need more of them. Democrats have turned down many a good person wanting to come into our Country. They must stop now!”
President Trump's controversial tweet came the day after U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director L. Francis Cissna announced the organization would end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Cissna cited Trump's rescission of the program, which the U.S. Supreme Court rejected in June, as the "reason" behind the program's termination.
